Longtime Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek Passes Away


The recipient of an MBA in business administration from Point Park University, Timika Pettus is a business analyst who most recently worked as a messaging specialist at Computer Enterprises, Inc. Timika Pettus enjoys gardening and watching game shows, especially Jeopardy!, in her free time.


Jeopardy! icon and longtime host Alex Trebek died on November 8, 2020, following a battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Trebek announced he was diagnosed with the disease in March 2019 and, in a video message to fans, vowed to beat the disease, which has a five-year survival rate of 1 percent. He maintained a positive attitude throughout the past year and even continued to produce new episodes of the popular game show. His last-ever episode as host was scheduled to air on December 25.

A native of Canada, Trebek began working at the CBC network in 1960 and later hosted shows such as Pick and Choose and Music Hop. He began hosting Jeopardy! in 1984. During his 36-year tenure as host of the show, Trebek won six Daytime Emmy Awards as Outstanding Game Show Host, while the show itself garnered 16 Daytime Emmys. Trebek won a Peabody Award in 2012 and, in 2018, was made an officer of the Order of Canada.

Steelers Receiver Sets NFL Record for Canadian Players


A former team support specialist at Highmark in Pittsburgh, Timika Pettus is a passionate gardener who maintains an urban garden and an aero garden and is interested in canning vegetables. In addition to gardening, Timika Pettus enjoys watching the NFL and NBA. Her favorite NFL team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.


Steelers rookie Chase Claypool set a record in only his second NFL game on September 20. The 22-year-old native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, recorded an 84-yard touchdown reception on a pass from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the second quarter of a game against the Denver Broncos. With the catch, he established a new record for the longest touchdown reception in NFL history by a Canadian. Claypool finished the game with three catches for 88 yards. Pittsburgh defeated Denver 26-21.

Selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Claypool spent the prior four seasons at the University of Notre Dame. He led the team in receptions (66), receiving yards (1,037), and touchdowns (13) in 2019 and accumulated 2,159 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns through his collegiate career.
